There is something inherently creepy about automata. Moving, yet un-living little people, their vacant eyes staring into nothing as they perform their set of actions over and over. They occupy that uncomfortable space known as the uncanny valley, a space between life and non-life, inciting a flurry of crossed signals in our brains. Cuteness and creepiness share a border. \There is a place, not far from New York, where you can see rooms full of these moving, life-like yet lifeless dolls: New Jersey.
